What can we learn from the humble yo-yo??
The one thing we can all learn from the humble yo-yo is that what goes down will always come back up and then go down again!
And this is certainly true when it comes to weight-loss and crash dieting (you know the ones ‘7-day beach body’, ‘get trim for Christmas’, etc).
How many of you have been on a crash diet?
How many of you have reached your target weight and looked fabulous?
Now, how many of you, when you reached your target weight then resumed eating as you did before you dieted?
And didn’t you all find that you ended up back where you were when you first started the diet, plus a few more pounds?
What did you do next?
That’s right, you tried another diet plan, because clearly the first one didn’t work?
Another quick fix, fast weight loss, resume eating properly and all the weight goes back on. Ad infinitum.
That’s the ‘yo-yo effect’.
But what do we learn? Absolutely nothing, because when we reached the start, i.e., back where we started, we launched into yet another diet.
We want it to change, but we never learn that it won’t.
It’s time to stop the yo-yo!
It’s time to throw the yo-yo away.
Forget diets.
If you want to lose weight you don’t need to watch points, give up carbohydrates, starve for 2 days out of every 5, etc. You simply need to start eating a balanced healthy diet and exercise.
You also need to get your mind-set in gear and be sure of why you want to lose weight. Is it because the jeans are feeling a bit uncomfortable or because you need to want to get in shape?
However, at the end of the day though, you are the only person who can lose weight and keep it off, by adopting a permanent lifestyle and mind-set change, not just a temporary one!
Make today the day you make a promise to yourself and throw the yo-yo away.
